Joseph M. Sterner: Environmental Director/ President

JMS Environmental Associates, Ltd. is led by the Environmental Director, Mr. Joseph M. Sterner, who has been consulting in the asbestos field for the past fifteen years. Mr. Sterner has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He is also a licensed asbestos and lead consultant. As the Environmental Director, his prime responsibilities include directing all consulting and laboratory operations. His prior experiences have been in the field of consulting under the supervision of construction management and environmental related monitoring. Mr. Sterner is a member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association, Air Pollution Control Association, American Society of Civil Engineers (Associate Member), and Chairman/Commissioner of the Village of Downers Grove Environmental Concerns Commission.


Robert J. Dal Santo: Laboratory Operations Manager

Mr. Dal Santo manages all aspects of the laboratory's analytical programs and coordinates the daily operations of the company. His previous experiences have been in asbestos project management and asbestos microscopy analyses utilizing Phase Contrast and Polarized Light Microscopy with over 15 years of laboratory experience. Mr. Dal Santo is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University in the field of Geology.

John T. Aschbacher: Quality Assurance/ Quality Control Manager

Mr. Aschbacher manages the laboratory's quality assurance/ quality control program. His previous experiences have been in laboratory management, QA/QC coordination, and asbestos microscopy (PCM/PLM) with over twenty years of laboratory experience. Mr. Aschbacher is a graduate of Southern Illinois University in the field of Geology.


Kirsten B. Bolda: Microscopy Laboratory Supervisor

Ms. Bolda supervises the laboratory's asbestos microscopy area, performing all routine analyses utilizing Phase Contrast and Polarized Light Microscopy. She also has working experience with Electron Microscopy and Environmental Chemistry preparation techniques. Ms. Bolda is a graduate of the University of Illinois in the field of Biology.


Joyce M. Ciesla: Senior Project Manager

Ms. Ciesla manages the field operations in the area of Environmental Site Assessments, asbestos and lead-based paint. She regularly deals with client documentation and regulations throughout the industry. Her previous experiences were with project scheduling, coordination, field work and development of Management Plans. Ms. Ciesla is a graduate of Northeastern Illinois University in the field of Environmental Studies and Geography.
